Overview
The Field Programme Support and Monitoring Officer role contributes to the effective and efficient management and coordination of operational support for programme and project activities within the Regional/Subregional Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitors project progress at country and regional/subregional levels and prepares reports.
- Identifies projects facing problems and follows up with budget holders.
- Contributes to programme development and project formulation.
- Cooperates in resource mobilization for technical assistance projects.
- Ensures oversight of project appraisal and approval processes.
- Provides support to budget holders for project inputs and monitors their execution.
- Monitors timely preparation of delivery estimates, pipeline reviews, and project reports.
- Participates in the analysis of technical and operational backstopping requirements.
- Reviews, updates, and maintains field programme information and data in FPMIS, and trains staff in its use.
- Acts as focal point for collection and storage of regional and country-related information and documents.
- Provides guidance to project budget holders on procedural issues.
- Monitors project completion and follows up on terminal reports and project closure.
- Ensures monitoring of risk management activities.
- Supports the implementation of project evaluation recommendations.
- Oversees the implementation of post audits action plans.
- Supports monitoring, evaluation, and learning functions.
Required Experience
Five years of relevant experience in agricultural development and/or project planning/formulation/implementation in an area of FAO's activities in the country. Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions. Extent and relevance of experience in programme/project development (including formulation and analysis) and management (implementation).
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in agriculture, agricultural economics, forestry, fisheries or any other field related to the work of the Organization.
