Overview

Provide analytical support to the Judicial Support and Cooperation Section through open-source research, monitoring, data processing, and contextual analysis. Contribute to the Mechanism's efforts to support national jurisdictions by assisting in the collection and assessment of information relevant to case development.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct contextual open-source searches in support of criminal investigations.
  • Monitor specific open sources for updates relevant to active domestic criminal investigations.
  • Support in the analysis of material/records relevant to criminal investigations.
  • Prepare timelines.
  • Weekly open-source monitoring of political and judicial developments and reporting.
  • Data entry and metadata support.
  • Assist in informal translations and summarizing of relevant Arabic-language materials.
  • Take minutes during internal JSCS meetings or cross-sectional meetings.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Interested candidates must be pursuing or have pursued their degree in areas related to this Job Opening - e.g. criminology, law, Middle Eastern studies, conflict or security studies, international relations, human rights or criminal law, political/social science or a related area. Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS Outlook, and MS Teams.

Languages Required
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of Arabic is desirable. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
Contract Duration
between 3 months minimum and 6 months maximum
Work Modality
in-person/flexible , with possibility of of hybrid or remote work modalities to be discussed with the successful candidate
Remuneration
This internship is unpaid. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
