Overview

Provide technical, operational, and logistical support to the Global Mechanism of the UNCCD in preparation for COP17, focusing on event coordination, knowledge management, travel, and capacity building activities.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, preparation, and organization of COP17 events, including side events and meetings.
  • Coordinate event logistics, speaker engagement, and prepare briefing materials.
  • Update and maintain the project dashboard, ensuring data accuracy and quality.
  • Assist in preparing summary outputs and visualizations from the dashboard.
  • Coordinate end-to-end travel arrangements for participants.
  • Support visa facilitation processes.
  • Organize webinars, workshops, consultations, and capacity building activities.
  • Prepare and disseminate technical materials for events.
  • Provide technical and logistical support during workshops and meetings.
Required Experience
  • Experience in project management or organization of meetings and conferences is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of work experience in logistics, travel, or related areas is required.
  • Experience supporting the work of a senior manager is required.
  • Previous general administrative experience in a United Nations organization would constitute a strong asset.
  • Experience with multilateral environmental agreement (MEA) processes, including UNCCD governance and COP processes, is an asset.
Qualifications
  • Secondary school education complemented by secretarial or equivalent school courses is required.
  • A full command of Microsoft Office is required.

Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of French or another official UN language is an asset.
