Overview

Support the UN Resident Coordinator's Office in North Macedonia with digital transformation, data governance, and capacity building initiatives for the UN Country Team.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of digital transformation initiatives.
  • Scan and analyze trends in digitalization and emerging technologies.
  • Conduct research on AI governance, digital public infrastructure, digital inclusion, digital rights, and responsible technology use.
  • Support the preparation of policy briefs, analytical notes, presentations, and recommendations.
  • Support engagement with government institutions, academia, the private sector, civil society, innovation hubs, and development partners.
  • Support and coordinate document consultations, working groups, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Support the process of maintaining stakeholder mapping and partnership databases.
  • Support organizing workshops, policy dialogues, roundtables, and discussions on AI, emerging technologies, and digital transformation.
  • Draft knowledge products and briefing materials for UN.
  • Monitor international developments and good practices related to AI governance and digital policy.
  • Support data governance initiatives and the implementation of data standards.
  • Assist with data quality assurance, data documentation, metadata management, and knowledge management processes.
  • Support the collection, cleaning, analysis, and interpretation of datasets.
  • Support the processes for results monitoring and reporting efforts.
  • Support the development of dashboards and visual analytics products.
  • Draft data visualizations to support reporting, planning, and communication needs.
  • Support the management of data repositories and information systems.
  • Assist in delivering hands-on training sessions for UN staff on Power BI, data visualization, data analytics fundamentals, AI productivity tools, and digital collaboration tools.
  • Support the process of developing user guides, learning materials, and training modules.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). Studies in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Digital Transformation, Public Policy, Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Innovation Management, Artificial Intelligence, Development Studies, or a related field is desired. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Programme.

Knowledge of Macedonian and Albanian language is desirable.

Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
