Overview

The role is responsible for translating documents from Hebrew into English and performing other language-related tasks within the Office of the Prosecutor.


Key Responsibilities
  • Translate and self-revise documents from Hebrew into English covering legal, military, medical, forensic, human rights, administrative and financial matters;
  • Proofread and cross-read the work of other translators;
  • Contribute to terminology and reference databases;
  • Perform other tasks as required (e.g. transcribing a/v material, and/or IT related tasks).
Required Experience

A minimum of 5 years (7 years with a first-level university degree) of work experience in translation, interpretation, linguistics or law preferably in an international organisation, is required.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree in translation, interpretation, linguistics, law or any other related field, is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience is accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Languages Required
Mother-tongue (or equivalent) proficiency in English and a high-level of proficiency in Hebrew are required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of the other working language of the Court, French, is desirable. Knowledge of another official language of the Court (Arabic, Chinese, Russian or Spanish) and one or more of the Court’s situation-related languages (such as Ukrainian, Rohingya, Cebuano, Tagalog, Burmese, Dari, Pashto, and Swahili.) will be considered an asset.
