Overview
The Protection Monitoring Assistant supports the identification of protection risks and issues affecting target communities and the implementation of protection monitoring activities in Rural Damascus.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake field monitoring missions and collect protection information.
- Facilitate key informant interviews, household interviews and focus group discussions.
- Ensure data is collected according to DRC ProMo SOPs and protection principles.
- Upload protection data into mobile devices through KoBo app.
- Identify protection needs/risks and conduct referrals to service providers.
- Collect information to update service mapping and referral pathways.
- Contribute to data cleaning and debriefing.
- Conduct Rapid Protection Assessment following community alerts.
- Provide psychological first aid to individuals in distress.
- Support drafting and updating PIM reports.
- Support preparation and submission of weekly and monthly work plans.
- Participate in weekly team meetings.
- Collaborate with MEAL teams.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with stakeholders.
- Advocate for the needs of vulnerable individuals.
Required Experience
- At least 2 years of experience in protection services, protection monitoring, data collection or relevant humanitarian action.
- Knowledge of protection information management (PIM), Kobo Toolbox, data collection methodologies, referral pathways and service mapping.
Qualifications
Bachelor/Degree in Social work, Human Rights, Counseling, Psychology, or closely related field.
