Overview
The Protection Officer is responsible for the timely, high-quality, and effective provision of protection services, including Victim Assistance, referral of cases, and Cash for Protection.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist conflict-affected individuals to access life-saving medical interventions.
- Report VA cases exceeding assistance ceiling and arrange case conferences.
- Verify patients' information and war-related accident details.
- Follow up with individuals receiving medical treatment.
- Raise Payment Requests for medical service providers.
- Fill in VA tracking sheets.
- Refer cases to internal and external services.
- Create monthly medical treatment summaries.
- Review hospital claims documents and expenses.
- Follow-up final medical treatment reports.
- Maintain strict confidentiality about cases and beneficiaries.
- Provide Psychological First Aid (PFA).
- Fill in Referral tracking sheets.
- Report complex cases to the Protection Team Leader.
- Coordinate with other NGOs and actors.
- Attend supervision meetings.
- Identify cases in need of cash for protection.
- Prepare and request advances for CFP.
- Record CFP assisted cases.
- Produce and submit weekly reports and updated databases.
- Provide inputs for internal reports.
- Support the implementation of monitoring and evaluation tools.
- Accurately update tracking sheets.
- Maintain complete and accurate case files.
- Ensure hospital payments are archived.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
- Advocate for the needs of vulnerable individuals.
- Participate in sub-cluster meetings.
- Attend and lead weekly supervisory meetings.
- Ensure up-to-date information on service providers.
- Perform other duties as directed by the line manager.
- Adhere to DRC's Code of Conduct and policies.
- Attend emergency call for duty when requested.
- Maintain positive work relationships and promote team-building.
Required Experience
- 2-3 years of experience in protection-related work, including direct experience supporting vulnerable individuals.
- Previous experience in international organizations is a strong advantage.
Qualifications
Bachelor/Degree in Social work, Counseling, psychology, or closely related field; proven field experience can be accepted in lieu.
