Overview

Support information management needs for the Protection Unit, including data collection, cleaning, validation, and analysis for the MRC Information System and other protection teams.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support PXU MRCIS data management needs and maintaining high standards of data quality.
  • Retrieve, compile, summarize, analyze, and present information/data on specific project topics.
  • Implement, monitor, and maintain database information systems.
  • Assist to improve and automate data validation mechanisms.
  • Perform data cleaning, analysis, visualizing, and conducting triangulation of information.
  • Contextualize data collected for nontechnical audiences.
  • Draft data stories and dashboards.
  • Draft status reports, identify shortfalls in delivery, and suggest remedial actions.
  • Draft correspondence on project issues; prepare and update reports, briefing notes, graphics, statistical tables, presentations.
  • Respond to complex information requests and inquiries; set up and maintain files/records; organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
  • Participate in meetings and conferences; assist in coordinating implementation activities with local authorities, partners, United Nation agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, donors and other stakeholders.
  • Train team members, implementing partners and other relevant parties on the utilization of data collection and management tools.
  • Assist in monitoring work of implementing partners and report non-compliances to the supervisor.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
  • School diploma with five years of relevant experience; or, Bachelor’s degree with three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Previous experience in utilizing and/or creating data collection and analysis programmes and platforms;
  • Demonstrated experience with and commitment to IOM’s data collection and protection principles
  • Strong statistical analysis and data management skills including trends analysis, hypothesize conclusions and summarize complex concepts based on raw data
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data collection tools, applications and systems, including back-end and highly technical modification/ manipulation of these systems, if required
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations;
  • Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups;
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
Qualifications

School diploma or Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, software engineering, statistics, or related fields from an accredited academic institution.

Fluency in English and Amharic is required (oral and written).
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of other Ethiopian languages is desirable.
