Overview

The Library Associate performs descriptive cataloguing and metadata creation for library resources and provides information services to users.


Key Responsibilities
  • Create, maintain, and enhance quality bibliographic, authority, and metadata records for print and digital library resources.
  • Review and update existing metadata records.
  • Assign classification numbers, subject headings, descriptors, and keywords.
  • Provide information services at the information desk, including circulation, basic reference support, and user guidance.
  • Support metadata governance and quality assurance activities.
  • Contribute to the configuration, testing, and optimizing usage of the Library Management System (LMS) and associated discovery platform.
  • Perform automation of routine tasks such as metadata import, notifications, and reporting.
  • Perform any other library related tasks as assigned.
Required Experience

Minimum of six years of relevant working experience, of which five years is related to cataloguing/metadata in a library environment. Work experience in an international environment is an asset. Experience working with MARC 21, AACR2, RDA, LCSH and UDC is a requirement.

Qualifications

Completed secondary education. University degree (bachelor) in any field an asset. Formal training in library work and cataloguing an asset.

Languages Preferred
Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset.

Remuneration
Tax-free annual net base salary starting at EUR 68788 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), 6 weeks' annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance.
