Overview

The Principal Coordination Officer (Managing Coordinator) is responsible for coordinating the implementation and management of UNCTAD projects under a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China.

Key Responsibilities

• Leads, supervises and monitors the implementation of projects.
• Co-ordinates work product from different units and UN bodies.
• Provides programmatic/substantive reviews of drafts.
• Ensures strategic alignment across divisions.
• Ensures outputs maintain high-quality standards.
• Assists in the review and approval of proposals, determining priorities, and allocating resources.
• Undertakes programmatic/administrative tasks including budget preparation and reporting.
• Leads and supervises the organization of meetings, seminars, etc.
• Participates in international, regional or national meetings and provides expertise.

Required Experience

A minimum of fifteen years of progressively responsible experience in program coordination and development focused initiatives, at the national and international level is required. Experience in intergovernmental fora dealing with trade and development or related issues is required. Experience in negotiations with both Member States and private sectors is desirable.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, finance, accounting, law, social sciences or related area is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
