INTERN - LEGAL AFFAIRS

Overview

This internship focuses on legal affairs within the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, specifically supporting the Secretariat of the Regional Agreement on Access to Information, Public Participation and Justice in Environmental Matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake legal and policy research related to the Escazú Agreement;
• Assist and take notes in different meetings and activities;
• Prepare draft documents, minutes and reports and English/Spanish translations thereof;
• Prepare draft summaries and English/Spanish translations of documents, e-mails, forms and other inputs sent to the Secretariat and bodies of the Agreement;
• Provide general and logistical support during meetings and activities;
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Experience

Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation. For this internship, studies in the areas of Law, Political Science, Environment, Sustainable Development, Public Administration, Translation, Data Management and other related areas is desirable.
