Overview
Consultant to support UNESCO's efforts in open solutions, focusing on operationalizing Open Data activities, strengthening Diamond Open Access methodologies, and enhancing awareness of source code preservation.
Key Responsibilities
- Refine benchmark framework for Open Data strategies.
- Finalise toolkit for Open Data platforms.
- Prepare implementation note on Open Data framework and toolkit.
- Produce summary report and recommendations for UNESCO-KISTI Collaboration.
- Prepare 2026 annual report on UNESCO-KISTI Collaboration activities.
- Produce Diamond Open Access pilot analysis methodology.
- Finalise guidelines for Diamond Open Access.
- Prepare implementation note for Diamond Open Access in Asia and Africa.
- Facilitate exchange of good practices for preserving and accessing source code.
- Organise at least two information-sharing meetings.
- Finalise issues paper on recognising and preserving software source code as digital documentary heritage.
- Support thematic preparation, concept note development, and participation in the programme committee of the 2027 UNESCO-Software Heritage Symposium.
- Prepare a PowerPoint presentation on Diamond Open Access.
- Prepare issues paper on Open Solutions as digital public goods.
- Prepare report on UNESCO's engagement with the Digital Public Goods Alliance.
- Prepare monthly briefing note on policy, funding, and partnership opportunities.
- Facilitate engagement with relevant stakeholders and prepare summary reports.
Required Experience
Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience in areas related to scientific research, international cooperation for sciences and/or related fields.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in Natural Sciences, Public Policy and/or related field(s)
