Overview

The ICRC is seeking a Protection Field Officer to implement and monitor protection activities in Kachin state, contributing to the protection of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence.


Key Responsibilities
  • Implement protection activities in Kachin State.
  • Monitor and analyze the security, socio-economic, cultural and political environment.
  • Develop and maintain contact with authorities and other relevant interlocutors.
  • Contribute to internal reporting and programmatic activities.
  • Coordinate with and advise other ICRC departments.
  • Conduct disseminations and presentations on Protection activities and ICRC mandate.
  • Prepare, participate and report on field missions.
  • Support Family Visit (FVP) and Safe Return Home (SRH) Programs.
  • Contribute to ICRC detention activities.
  • Conduct tracing activities and document activities.
Required Experience

At least 3–5 years of professional experience in humanitarian, protection, or field operations—preferably with the ICRC, UN agencies, or INGOs. Proven experience in case management, data collection, and documentation of protection concerns, particularly in conflict-affected or sensitive contexts. Strong knowledge of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), human rights, and protection principles, with practical understanding of their application in the field. Previous ICRC experience is a strong asset, particularly in protection and detention work.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Law, International Relations, Political Science, or another relevant field (Master’s degree preferred).
