Overview

The Counsel provides legal advice and documentation support on institutional and administrative matters, as well as other operational and advisory work for the Office of the General Counsel.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and support on institutional and administrative matters, including personnel policies, staff grievances, disciplinary procedures, appeals, administrative law, privileges and immunities, membership matters, and treaties.
  • Advise on policies related to artificial intelligence, data privacy, data protection, and legal aspects of information technology systems.
  • Review applicable laws and regulations.
  • Prepare legal documentation and conduct legal research.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned, including special projects.
  • Participate in internal and external training, conferences, and activities for advocacy, knowledge building, and dissemination.
  • Lead reporting staff with guidance, performance monitoring, feedback, and development opportunities.
Required Experience

At least 6 years of relevant legal experience, including at least 3 years of legal experience working in international organizations on human resources, employment, governance, and administrative law matters. International experience working in several countries.

Qualifications

A University degree in law and admission as a lawyer in one or more of ADB's member countries, preferably at post-graduate level or its equivalent.
