Overview

The Communications Analyst will lead the development and implementation of communications and outreach activities for the Climate Change, Water, Energy, and Environment (CCWEE) portfolio, aiming to enhance project visibility, stakeholder engagement, knowledge sharing, and advocacy.


Key Responsibilities
  • Draft and publish success stories, articles, press releases and other publications.
  • Coordinate with project teams to develop social media posts, infographics and multimedia content.
  • Ensure timely updates of portfolio and project fact sheets, website pages, newsletters and other outreach materials.
  • Work with implementing partners and project Responsible Parties to generate content.
  • Provide communications advice to project teams.
  • Support and contribute to the Country Office’s overall communications priorities and campaigns.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Strategic Communications Plan for the CCWEE portfolio.
  • Lead the production of communications materials and donor-facing products.
  • Coordinate closely with the UNDP Yemen Communications & Advocacy Team.
  • Design and roll out innovative advocacy and awareness campaigns.
  • Plan and execute national-level advocacy initiatives.
  • Develop creative content (videos, photo essays, blog series).
  • Regularly update donors on communications activities.
  • Assist the team in the editing and formatting of official project reports.
  • Review and polish written content produced by the portfolio.
  • Assist CCWEE teams by editing and formatting official reports, concept notes and policy briefs.
  • Review and edit written content (in English and/or Arabic) produced by the portfolio.
  • Maintain an organized archive of CCWEE communications outputs.
  • Make sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice.
  • Support compiling and systematizing project knowledge, products and tools.
Required Experience
  • Applicants with a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field of study are not required to have professional work experience.
  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) are required to have a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in mass communications, media, journalism, tv/radio/electronic media.
  • Proven ability to produce clear, concise written and visual information products.
  • Experience in utilizing computers, standard office software packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and managing web-based content systems.
  • Experience working in communications or advocacy for UN/UNDP, international organisations, or prominent international NGOs (INGOs) in an emergency or conflict environment.
  • Experience managing national advocacy campaigns and coordinating the production of video, photo, and other multimedia products.
  • Experience working in politically complex environments and coordinating with partners on highly sensitive environmental or social issues.
  • Experience in excellent editing, report writing, and formatting skills for donor-facing documents.
Qualifications
  • Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Sciences or a related field is required.
  • Or
  • A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas stated above in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
