Overview

The Legal Intern provides temporary outreach, administrative, and logistical support to legal awareness and civil documentation activities. This role supports community outreach, field visits, and monitoring and reporting tasks.


Key Responsibilities
  • Support community outreach and mobilization using approved messages, materials and procedures.
  • Support venue preparation, accessibility, privacy arrangements, and other logistics for legal awareness and civil documentation activities.
  • Distribute approved DRC materials and communicate information on services, schedules, locations and access arrangements.
  • Record attendance using DRC tools and under staff direction.
  • Promote safe, respectful, and inclusive participation during legal activities.
  • Support field visits, mobile activities, appointment scheduling and access under the direct guidance of designated Protection / Legal Aid staff.
  • Support communication with community members on legal activities, schedules, locations, appointments, and access arrangements.
  • Support non-substantive administrative tasks and organization of activity materials.
  • Refer legal, protection, safeguarding or urgent concerns to designated DRC staff.
  • Assist the Protection / Legal Aid team with maintaining activity records, attendance sheets, registration forms, and other required documentation.
  • Support data entry and filing of activity records in accordance with DRC data protection procedures.
  • Submit completed records promptly and securely to the supervising staff member.
  • Support the verification of completed administrative forms before submission to the Legal team.
  • Report operational challenges and relevant observations from field activities to the supervising DRC staff and participate in field debriefings.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with team members and support a collaborative working environment.
  • Comply with confidentiality, data protection, information-sharing and informed consent requirements.
  • Treat all colleagues, partners, and community members with dignity and respect.
  • Participate in required induction, orientation and on-the-job training.
  • Perform other duties related to the role as assigned by the line manager or relevant protection staff member.
Required Experience

Previous experience supporting community outreach, legal aid, or protection activities through volunteer or internship opportunities with NGOs or humanitarian organizations is preferred.

Qualifications

Final-year student or recent graduate in Law, Legal Studies, or a related field.
