Overview

The Chief of Section, Programme Management, P5 is responsible for providing policy advice, overseeing programme implementation, and coordinating activities within the Socio-Economic Development Division.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provides policy advice on conceptual strategy development and management of implementation.
  • Supports and coordinates the work programme of the Division.
  • Provides substantive input in the preparation of position papers and reports for intergovernmental bodies.
  • Contributes to reporting to intergovernmental bodies on budget/programme performance.
  • Ensures that the outputs produced by the Division maintains high-quality standards.
  • Prepares input for the work programme of the Division, determining priorities, and allocating resources.
  • Supports the Director with carrying out programmatic/administrative tasks.
  • Contributes to the recruitment of staff for the Division.
  • Supports the management, guidance, and development of staff.
  • Fosters teamwork and communication among staff.
  • Represent and support the Organization at inter-agency meetings.
  • Participates in international, regional or national meetings and provides programmatic/substantive expertise.
Required Experience

A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in administration, budget, finance, human resources management or related fields is required. Experience in supporting the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of programmes or projects related to socio-economic development is required. 2 years or more of experience in data analytics or related areas is desirable. Experience in supporting policy research, programme monitoring or the implementation of initiatives related to social development, employment, gender equality, youth empowerment or social protection is desirable.

Qualifications

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, finance, accounting, law or related areas is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science programs is an advantage.

Languages Preferred
Knowledge of the other working language (French or English) is an advantage. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
