Overview
Internship opportunity within the Chinese Unit of the Web Services Section, responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the UN's public internet website.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research on thematic issues and adapt content for the web by rewriting or translating from English to Chinese.
- Assist in updating websites using HTML, SHTML, CSS, WordPress, or Drupal.
- Assist in drafting, formatting, editing, and posting original web content, including graphics, photos, and videos.
- Assist in editing existing videos (subtitles or audio) or producing short videos.
- Use multimedia communications and IT/web tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and digital editing tools.
- Analyze data and web metrics to produce reports.
Required Experience
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Qualifications
- Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
- Applicants must also: Be computer literate in standard software applications. Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
- Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Teams.
