Overview

Internship opportunity within the Chinese Unit of the Web Services Section, responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the UN's public internet website.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research on thematic issues and adapt content for the web by rewriting or translating from English to Chinese.
  • Assist in updating websites using HTML, SHTML, CSS, WordPress, or Drupal.
  • Assist in drafting, formatting, editing, and posting original web content, including graphics, photos, and videos.
  • Assist in editing existing videos (subtitles or audio) or producing short videos.
  • Use multimedia communications and IT/web tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and digital editing tools.
  • Analyze data and web metrics to produce reports.
Required Experience

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Qualifications
  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
  • Applicants must also: Be computer literate in standard software applications. Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter. Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Teams.

Languages Required
Fluency in English and Chinese is required.
Languages Preferred
Knowledge of another UN official language is desirable.
Contract Duration
3-6 months
Work Modality
Flexible. This internship is designed to be full-time and in person but can be adjusted based on the needs of the successful candidate.
Remuneration
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
