Overview

Provide technical support in the delivery of disaster risk reduction (DRR) initiatives and resilient education components of the "Climate Justice Bridging project". Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).


Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and implementation of DRR and resilient education initiatives with partners.
  • Support partners in programme/project development through technical advice.
  • Facilitate setting up of systems and procedures for partner adherence to DRR and resilient education related SOPs.
  • Work with partners and MEAL team to agree on operational plans, indicators and milestones.
  • Manage Oxfam in Malawi’s various resources under custody.
  • Make regular monitoring visits to partner organisations, institutions and project implementation sites.
  • Provide regular updates on internal and external environment affecting the projects.
  • Take a lead role in developing DRR related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Work with Project Coordinator and MEAL team to ensure MEAL functions are effectively implemented.
  • Represent the Just Economies Team at various external fora.
  • Ensure compliance with back donor requirements, especially timely submission of quality narrative reports.
Required Experience

10+ years of experience in development work, preferably within a large development or humanitarian organisation; experiences in climate justice, disaster risk management, WASH, resilient education and resilient livelihoods programming preferred. Previous experience in handling donor funded project especially with large grants. Experience of and understanding of a “Rights Based Approach”; Proven knowledge of and experience with donor funding environment and project management skills; Strong experiences in advocacy and policy influencing, preferably within the climate justice sector.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in agriculture, Social Development & Sustainable Livelihoods, Agriculture economics, Crop Sciences, rural development, environmental management, or other relevant fields.
