Overview

Provide technical advice to Member States on cancer prevention and control, and support the development and implementation of national cancer control programmes.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical advice to Member States on cancer prevention and control.
  • Draft, revise and develop national cancer control programmes and plans.
  • Assess the regional situation of childhood cancer control infrastructure, policies and plans.
  • Set up and coordinate networks for information exchange.
  • Support building national capacity for the implementation of WHO initiatives.
  • Mentor and supervise consultants.
  • Assist in other technical tasks related to NCDs and cancer prevention and control.
Required Experience

At least five years of relevant experience with international exposure in medicine and public health practice, including experience in the field of cancer control in low- and middle-income countries. Relevant experience in WHO, UN system or in international organizations active in the health sector, especially in countries in the EMR.

Qualifications

University degree in Medicine, public health or related areas directly relevant to cancer control. Advanced university degree in oncology will be an asset.

Remuneration
Annual base salary starting at USD 71,335 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 1718 per month for the duty station indicated above. Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
