Overview

Internship supporting the UN Development Coordination Office (DCO) in policy analysis, strategic planning, innovation, and analytics, focusing on information management.


Tasks Summary
  • Collate guidance materials on knowledge capture and sharing
  • Assist collection and sharing of emerging good practice and lessons
  • Facilitate online communities of practice
  • Support preparation of senior-level management meetings, conferences, and retreats
  • Support preparation of country-level meetings
  • Prepare slide decks, background and option papers
  • Track and analyze UNSDG decisions and their implementation
  • Ensure consistent visual concepts and language
  • Assist in preparation of speeches and talking points
  • Support analytics on DCO/UNSDG issues
  • Assist in development of corporate visualization solutions
  • Support development of data models
  • Build interactive dashboards and reports
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis
  • Work with MS Excel, Power BI, Tableau, ThinkCell, SQL Server, ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, Leaflet, Carto, Open Street Map, Python
  • Support geo-spatial analysis
  • Work with analytical techniques such as sentiment analysis, predictive analysis, social media monitoring
  • Maintain key data sets, data models, indices and reports
  • Support preparation of analytical slide decks for policymakers
  • Support digital solutions lab in experimenting with Generative AI, Automation, Innovation, and low code solutions
  • Provide strategic support to the digital solutions lab
  • Monitor, identify and analyze global trends
  • Coordinate formulation of strategies, programmes and policies
  • Support policy process areas: identification, agenda building, development, formulation, adoption, implementation, and evaluation
  • Support knowledge management of policy and programme data/information
  • Support market intelligence around knowledge management and organizational learning
  • Support preparation of meetings, events, talks and visits.

Experience Requirements

No working experience is required.


Qualification Requirements
  • Enrolled or recently graduated from a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) in public policy, information management, data science, international relations, or a similar/related field of study
  • Enrolled in the final academic year or graduated from a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent)
  • Applicants must demonstrate their intention to study further or to work in a field relevant to this internship description.
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another official United Nations language (Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 3 - 6 Months

Work Modality: In person, fully remote, or hybrid

Remuneration: The United Nations internship programme does not provide remuneration. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
