Overview

Assist in the assessment of disaster losses and damages tracking and the rollout of resilience tools. Support capacity building and development of methodologies for disaster risk reduction.

Tasks Summary

• Assist in assessing disaster losses and damages tracking in selected countries and critical infrastructure sectors, focusing on disaggregated data.
• Support the rollout of the DELTA Resilience tool in at least two countries.
• Assist in developing training materials for government agencies and stakeholders on disaster loss and damage data.
• Aid in consultations and capacity building for stakeholders on hazard and risk information standardization.
• Assist in participatory assessments of disaster losses and damages tracking capacities and practices.
• Identify gaps and needs in methodological approaches for risk information use in infrastructure and service sectors.
• Assist in developing/revising methodologies with relevant sectors and stakeholders.

Experience Requirements

• A field of study closely related to the internship is required.
• Applicants are not required to have professional work experience.

Qualification Requirements

• Enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher).
• Enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
• Pursuing or have pursued a degree in Data Science, Statistics, disaster risk management, or a related field.
• Proficiency in statistical methods, geographic information systems, and sustainable development planning using statistics.

Languages Required: • Fluency in English is required.

Contract Duration: Up to 6 months

Work Modality: Based in the UNDRR Office in Bangkok

Remuneration: Internship is unpaid. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
