Overview
Leads and manages the FAO country programme, office, resources, and staff. Represents FAO towards national authorities, partners, and stakeholders, advocating for FAO's policy positions and raising awareness of FAO's work.
Tasks Summary
- Implements FAO's field projects and develops the Field Programme by identifying and formulating new projects.
- Liaises with local donor representations.
- Assists governments in preventing and assessing disaster damage and in reconstruction/rehabilitation of the agricultural sector.
- Carries out public awareness activities and supports FAO campaigns.
- Provides assistance to technical and investment missions.
- Serves as a channel for FAO's services to governments and other partners.
- Keeps FAO informed of major social and economic developments and monitors the agriculture sector.
- Acts as FAO Representative to host governments and partners.
- Leads FAO's response to national priorities and sustainable development challenges.
- Advocates for action to accelerate the realization of SDGs.
- Leads FAO's contributions to UNSDCFs.
- Develops, maintains, and enhances collaboration with the host government and stakeholders.
- Represents FAO in national media and implements a proactive communications strategy.
- Supports UN joint communication efforts.
Experience Requirements
- Senior-level experience in managing country programmes, offices, resources, and staff.
- Experience in representing an organization towards national authorities, partners, and stakeholders.
- Experience in development and humanitarian issues.
