Overview
Contributes to the development of NATO’s relations with the European Union and other International Organisations. Drafts documents, briefs senior officials, and coordinates cooperation.
Tasks Summary
- Draft a wide range of documents and briefing material for senior NATO officials
- Assist in drafting reports and documents for NATO Committees
- Draft documents for public use, including for the NATO Website
- Coordinate NATO-EU cooperation within NATO
- Represent the PASP Division within and outside NATO
- Liaise with representatives of Allied delegations, other NATO units, staffs of the EU institutions, other international organisations, and NGOs
- Make presentations to visitors to NATO
- Draft public information material for the media and larger audiences on NATO-EU related issues
- Represent the Alliance at conferences, workshops and seminars
- Attend, and assist NATO working groups and committees as required
- Contribute to policy development pertaining to areas of responsibility
- Develop and sustain a strong network of contacts
- Manage institutional relationships between NATO and the EU
- Coordinate input from various parts of the Organization
- Monitor political developments in the EU and other international organisations
- Share knowledge on these developments
- Contribute to the management of special undertakings within the Section
Experience Requirements
- At least 4 years of relevant professional experience
- Preferably including contacts with the EU
- Familiarity with the Alliance's as well as EU’s political and military consultative process and with the key issues involved
- Clear understanding of, and experience in handling, major current international political and politico-military problems (including European security and defence related issues), particularly as they relate to the Alliance and the EU
- Experience in briefing and public speaking
- Experience in governmental administration or multilateral service dealing directly with the EU (desirable)
- Background on NATO-EU relations (desirable)
Qualification Requirements
• University degree, preferably with an emphasis on political science or contemporary international relations
