Overview

This internship provides an opportunity to conduct legal research and analysis within the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar in Geneva. The role supports legal officers, investigators, and analysts.

Tasks Summary

• Conduct legal research and prepare analyses on international and national criminal law, international human rights law, and public international law
• Research factual and policy issues
• Contribute to briefing papers, reports, and public information materials
• Assist in compiling and reviewing information, documentation, and evidence
• Proof-read and edit documents
• Draft meeting records

Experience Requirements

• Applicants are not required to have professional work experience.
• Undertaken studies in international criminal, humanitarian or human rights law or related areas.
• Training or academic or prior experience in legal research or analysis in the field of international criminal, humanitarian or human rights law is desirable.

Qualification Requirements

• Enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
• Enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
• Completed a university degree maximum one year before the date of application

Remuneration: Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
