Overview

This internship supports the Civil Affairs Team in researching, drafting, data collection, innovation, and analysis for peacekeeping operations.


Tasks Summary
  • Assist in researching topics for desk reviews, reports, and surveys of practice
  • Assist in preparing reports, concept papers, policy documents, talking points, and articles
  • Assist in the development of strategic communications, presentations, and visualizations
  • Assist in preparing newsletters
  • Attend and take notes at conferences and meetings
  • Assist in servicing conferences and meetings
  • Assist with project management development
  • Proofread/copyedit team documents
  • Assist in data collection, data analysis, and information/databases management
  • Explore and propose the use of AI tools for tasks like summarizing reports or extracting insights
  • Perform other duties as required

Experience Requirements
  • Experience in research, drafting reports, and preparing, editing, and/or translating policy documents and communication products is desirable
  • Experience in supporting the organization of events is desirable
  • Experience working with databases, data visualization software (e.g., Power BI), and strategic communications is desirable
  • Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence tools or methods is an advantage, particularly for data analysis, content summarization, database management, or policy research support

Qualification Requirements
  • Applicants must be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) OR be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent)
  • Applicants must be a student in the final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master's or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor's, Master's or PH.D. Programme
Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in spoken and written English is required

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage

Contract Duration: 6 months

Work Modality: Flexible (Hybrid, all remote, or in-person)
