Overview

ijgd LV Niedersachsen e.V. Stadt Hameln Volunteer opportunity: Youth work at Regenbogen Culture and Educational Centre

Tasks Summary

The Regenbogen Cultural and Educational Centre is an open meeting place for young people aged 13 to 26 in the centre of Hameln. The principle of the open house at Regenbogen is very simple: visitors can come without registering, move around freely in the building and use the football table or chill at the sofa corner. During opening hours, there are also constantly changing activities such as cooking, baking, theatre, music lessons, crafts and sports courses. Depending on the programme, workshops and parties could take place on Fridays and Saturdays. Your main activities will be focused on youth culture and prevention work, such as senior citizen work and inclusion work. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements Accomodation: you will stay in a shared house in Hameln, where you will have access to internet, a shared bathroon and kitchen. You will have your own room. Food: you will receive the official amount for food (333 €) per month and also a monthly pocket money (210 €). Transport arrangements: we will provide you with a bike and will reimburse your travel expenses for the seminar. Training during the activity You will have many opportunities to learn with us! You will attend two mandatory seminars in different German cities, where you can reflect on your learning progress and meet other volunteers like you. You can attend a language course and we will support you with the costs. We will also offer you trainings before, during and after your project. In addition, during your stay with us, we will organise regular reflection meetings. Participant profile We are looking for someone who is open and courageous in getting in touch with people, since the main focus of the work at the Regenbogen Culture and Educational Centre is direct contact with the local community. Being welcoming, interested in the concerns of residents, and confident in approaching new people and situations will make it easier for you to become part of our team. We do not expect any specific educational qualifications. However, it would be great if you bring along some skills in public relations and hobbies.
