Overview
Serves as the principal economic advisor for the region, reporting to the World Bank Group Chief Economist and DEC Senior Vice President. Accountable for leading economic policy dialogue and advising on strategic economic issues.
Tasks Summary
- Lead economic policy dialog with public and private sector stakeholders
- Advise and work with regional VPs and RLT on economic issues in SCD, CPF, CPSD, and other analytical products
- Advise regional WB-IFC RLTs on sectorial strategies and operations
- Mentor and coach macro and microeconomists
- Coordinate DEC Prospects, Markets, Data, and Indicators Group services
- Work with WBG Deputy Chief Economists on resource allocation
- Leverage WBG Institute for Economic Development programs
- Develop frontier analytical products
- Help WB-IFC VPs define regional priorities
- Align DEC Products and Offerings with country programs
- Produce semi-annual regional macro-monitoring and thematic chapters
- Ensure economic rigor in regional products
- Build and manage regional research and policy networks
Experience Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to leverage expertise within and outside the World Bank Group
- Track record of published policy research, high-quality analytical work and policy advice
- Strong collaboration skills and networks across academia, IFIs, and within the WBG
Qualification Requirements
PhD in economics or public policy
