Overview

Leads, plans, coordinates, and supervises the development, management, implementation, and assessment of the Department of Safeguards' training programme. This includes providing job-related technical training for staff and capacity-building for personnel from Member States.


Tasks Summary
  • Lead, plan and supervise the work and deliverables of the Section, ensuring optimal use of available resources
  • Ensure the effectiveness of the Section’s delivery in training needs analysis, staff training programme, Member States training programme, e-learning and online resources, and Safeguards Traineeship Programme
  • Manage, coach and develop staff, promoting a collaborative and knowledge-sharing work environment
  • Contribute to departmental programme planning, budgeting and performance reporting
  • Participate in interdepartmental initiatives supporting nuclear infrastructure development and capacity-building in Member States
  • Maintain effective liaison with Member States and relevant stakeholders to coordinate and deliver capacity-building activities
  • Oversee the management, operation and safety compliance of the safeguard’s training laboratories

Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years of combined research, industrial and international safeguards experience in the nuclear fuel cycle
  • Proven track record in management positions involving leading technical projects and teams, including supervision of staff and other resources as well as oversight responsibilities
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and conducting training courses
  • Experience in computer-based training and knowledge management an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships and engage collaboratively to assess training needs, coordinate capacity-building initiatives, and mobilize resources
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a large portfolio of diverse and complex activities, including planning, logistics, and coordination, and ensuring the delivery of quality products within deadlines
  • Knowledge of international safeguards
  • Thorough knowledge of the nuclear fuel cycle and experience with different fuel cycle facilities

Qualification Requirements
  • Master's Degree - Advanced university degree in nuclear science, physics, engineering or a related field
  • University degree in a stipulated field with two years of additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree
Other Details

Languages Required: • Excellent oral and written command of English

Languages Preferred: • Knowledge of other official IAEA languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is an asset

Contract Duration: 36 months

Remuneration: • Tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $101540 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance)• Variable post adjustment which currently amounts to US $ 55339*• Dependency benefits, rental subsidy, education grant, relocation and repatriation expenses• 6 weeks' annual leave, home leave travel, pension plan and health insurance
