Overview
Provides substantive, administrative, and technical support to the Global Policy, Advocacy and Regional Cooperation (GPARC) Unit of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) secretariat. Supports activities related to land degradation, desertification, and drought.
Tasks Summary
- Undertake research and compile information on assigned topics
- Collect, organize, and analyze data, preparing summary reports and presentations
- Assist in drafting, editing, and formatting documents on land degradation, drought, land tenure, and gender issues
- Draft monthly regional briefings for Annex II
- Support the organization of webinars, workshops, conferences, and meetings
- Provide support on drafting briefing notes, talking points, and correspondence
- Take notes during meetings and assist in preparing minutes and reports
- Support ad-hoc activities related to the Unit’s workplan
Experience Requirements
- Research skills: ability to perform effective internet searches and desk research
- Computer literate, with sound knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite
Qualification Requirements
- Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent)
- Graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within one year of graduation
- Writing skills: ability to draft and edit content for publication
- Planning and organizing: ability to work in an organized and structured way
