Overview

This internship provides substantive, administrative, and technical support to the Global Policy, Advocacy and Regional Cooperation (GPARC) Unit of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). The role aims to gain experience within UNCCD and the UN system.

Tasks Summary

• Undertake research and compile information on assigned topics
• Collect, organize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, preparing summary reports, data visualizations, and PPT presentations
• Assist in drafting, editing, and formatting products related to land degradation, drought, land tenure, and gender issues
• Draft Monthly regional Briefings for Annex IV
• Support the organization of webinars, workshops, conferences, and meetings
• Provide support on drafting briefing notes, talking points, and correspondence letters
• Take notes during meetings and assist in preparing minutes and reports
• Support other ad-hoc activities related to the Unit’s workplan

Experience Requirements

• Research skills: ability to perform effective and efficient internet searches, and desk research
• Planning and organizing: ability to work in an organized and structured way

Qualification Requirements

• Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent)
• Graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation

Languages Required: Fluency in written and oral English

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another official United Nations language
