Overview

This internship provides an opportunity to gain experience within the Global Policy, Advocacy and Regional Cooperation (GPARC) Unit of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). The role supports activities related to desertification, land degradation, and drought issues.

Tasks Summary

• Undertake research and compile information on assigned topics
• Collect, organize, and analyze data, preparing summary reports and presentations
• Assist in drafting, editing, and formatting documents related to land degradation, drought, land tenure, and gender issues
• Draft monthly regional briefings
• Support the organization of webinars, workshops, conferences, and meetings
• Provide support on drafting briefing notes, talking points, and correspondence
• Take notes during meetings and assist in preparing minutes and reports
• Support other ad-hoc activities related to the Unit’s workplan

Experience Requirements

• Ability to perform effective internet searches and desk research
• Ability to work in an organized and structured way

Qualification Requirements

• Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or graduated with a university degree and commencing internship within one year of graduation
• Computer literate, with sound knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite

Languages Required: • Fluency in written and oral English

Languages Preferred: • Knowledge of Spanish or another official United Nations language
