Overview

Internship opportunity with the Global Policy Advocacy and Research (GPARC) unit of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) focusing on gender dimensions of land degradation, desertification, and drought issues.

Tasks Summary

• Provide coordination and administrative support, including taking notes at meetings and drafting invitation letters.
• Assist with planning and organization of displays or sessions for COP17.
• Offer IT support to online sessions.
• Provide logistics planning and support.
• Draft talking points, solicit stories, and draft profiles or stories of women leaders.
• Draft press releases and concept notes for Gender Caucus sessions.
• Research and propose suitable panelists for sessions.
• Attend online preparatory meetings and track invitation letters.
• Prepare and update tables of funded participants and draft bios.
• Conduct or support research on gender and drought, or related topics.
• Find relevant articles, publications, and/or tools.
• Contribute to Communities of Learning and Practice.

Experience Requirements

• Research skills: ability to perform effective and efficient internet searches, and desk research.
• Writing skills: ability to draft and edit content for publication in English.
• Planning and organizing: ability to work in an organized and structured way.
• Computer literate, with sound knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualification Requirements

• Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent).
• Graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Contract Duration: 04 months

Work Modality: Home-based

Remuneration: Internship with UNCCD is unpaid. Interns are not financially remunerated by the UNCCD. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses, as well as for health coverage, are the responsibility of the intern or his/her sponsoring institution.
