Overview

Leads sustainable investment and capital markets initiatives. Undertakes economic or sectoral analysis and provides intergovernmental support on development issues.


Tasks Summary
  • Leads or participates in economic analysis and strategy formulation for sustainable investment and capital markets.
  • Identifies and develops programmes for emerging development issues in sustainable investment and capital markets.
  • Supervises staff economists and commissions economic studies.
  • Conceives, plans and manages expert group meetings and consultations.
  • Finalizes reports on sustainable investment and capital market for development, including inputs to the World Investment Report.
  • Prepares speeches and makes presentations on economic issues.
  • Provides substantive support to intergovernmental bodies with strategic advice and technical guidance.
  • Manages the work unit’s contribution to intergovernmental meetings.
  • Represents the organizational unit at international, regional and national meetings.
  • Develops and maintains relations with member governments and capital market stakeholders.
  • Negotiates technical assistance programmes and projects.
  • Organizes and coordinates cooperation among Member States on economic programmes.
  • Leads or participates in technical cooperation missions.
  • Functions as the head of the organizational unit dealing with sustainability practices in investment and finance ecosystems.
  • Contributes to the formulation of the medium-term plan, programme of work and budget.
  • Leads resource mobilization efforts and attends to administrative matters.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Experience Requirements
  • Experience in economic theories and concepts in different sectors of economic and sustainable development, sustainable investment and capital market.
  • Experience in conducting independent research on economic topics.
  • Experience in developing economic policies to promote sustainability practices in investment and finance ecosystems and making recommendations on their implementation.
