Overview

The WASH Field Assistant ensures effective and professional implementation of water, sanitation, and hygiene projects in accordance with local culture and practices. This role provides field-based technical support and monitors WASH activities.

Tasks Summary

• Monitor WASH field activities at assigned sites against BoQs, technical specifications, drawings, and work plans
• Coordinate with the DRC WASH team
• Provide technical support to Water Management Committees and Community Hygiene Volunteers
• Support preparation of BoQs, drawings, and technical documents for WASH construction and maintenance
• Assist in identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing WASH needs
• Ensure collection, verification, and reporting of field data
• Support sanitation and hygiene promotion campaigns and distribution of WASH supplies
• Prepare and submit weekly and monthly field updates
• Assist in organizing WASH-related events, trainings, and workshops
• Coordinate with local authorities and institutions
• Support documentation of project achievements, challenges, and lessons learned
• Ensure integration of gender equity, protection principles, and social inclusion
• Carry out other WASH-related duties assigned by the WASH Team Leader/Manager

Experience Requirements

• Minimum of two years of practical experience in field/site Engineer works related to water projects
• Experience in supporting the preparation and review of BoQs, technical specifications, and work plans
• Previous experience working with NGOs and/or INGOs is an advantage

Qualification Requirements

• University degree in Civil Engineering

Other Details

Languages Required: Arabic (Mother tongue)

Languages Preferred: English (v. good working knowledge of written and spoken English)

Contract Duration: June 30, 2026

Remuneration: Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s National Terms of Employment.
