Overview

The Senior Security Officer is responsible for ensuring effective security planning and management structures within the IFRC Myanmar Country Delegation. This role ensures the implementation of security plans and compliance with institutional requirements.


Tasks Summary
  • Advise on safety and security related matters in Myanmar
  • Support monitoring and implementation of IFRC Minimum Security Requirements (MSR) and Federation Security Manuals
  • Prepare MSR checklists and maintain compliance status updates
  • Ensure staff are trained on security plans and procedures are applied
  • Analyze security environment, identify threats and risks, and advise management
  • Undertake field trips to monitor and assess operational areas and field offices
  • Track security conditions daily by following news, rumors, and other sources
  • Conduct daily monitoring of events, incidents, and near-misses, assessing risks
  • Conduct or participate in security-related trainings
  • Act as first point of contact for the Head of Delegation during incidents
  • Maintain continuous contact with HOD, Senior Management Services Manager, and Regional Security Coordinator during incidents
  • Report relevant security issues and provide recommendations on security regulations and measures
  • Provide information for approval of exceptional expatriate movements
  • Track all security incidents and update information maps
  • Prepare and share security information for staff updates at office meetings

Experience Requirements
  • Experience in security planning and management structures
  • Experience in effective implementation and institutional compliance with security plans
  • Experience in situational monitoring, security management training, and incident data mapping and analysis
  • Experience maintaining working relationships with counterparts in other organizations and key players
  • Experience protecting confidentiality and integrity of the organization
  • Experience ensuring security of country office staff and delegates
  • Experience providing quality advice to delegates and national staff
  • Experience ensuring safe and secure access within IFRC property
