Overview

The role involves leading the analysis and preparation of a thematic report for a Nation Statistics Office, focusing on population and demographic issues. The purpose is to produce a comprehensive report based on national and international data.


Tasks Summary
  • Participate in orientation workshops.
  • Develop and submit an inception report including report outline, dummy tables, and summary of data.
  • Review literature related to the thematic report topic.
  • Mobilize and work with analysts and experts.
  • Participate in writing workshops and present progress.
  • Prepare and submit the first draft thematic report.
  • Incorporate reviewers' comments and provide justifications for unaddressed comments.
  • Submit thematic report drafts to UNICEF, WHO, and Ministry of Water Supply for feedback.
  • Finalize the thematic report incorporating feedback.
  • Prepare an Excel file of tables and figures.
  • Prepare a tidy Excel working file with tabulations and workings.
  • Prepare a PowerPoint presentation of key findings and policy implications.
  • Present the report at a dissemination event.
  • Prepare annexes and working files.

Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in data analysis, research, and writing on population and demographic issues.
  • Experience in an Executive Position at government, semi-government or other agencies relevant to statistics and/or research.
  • Understanding National & International data and other official data sources, including variables, methodologies, and geo-spatial/statistical technique is desirable.
  • Proven ability to process and analyze microdata from National and International data sources is desirable.
  • Experience in analyzing cross demission themes like GESI and Poverty using major national data is desirable.
  • Previous experience working with the United Nations is desirable.

Qualification Requirements
  • An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in Applied Statistics, or a related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree, combined with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
Other Details

Languages Required: Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of Nepali language is desirable.

Contract Duration: 5 months
