Overview
The Data Scientist will develop and operationalize analytical workflows to support UNDRR's Global Assessment Reports and related knowledge products, focusing on assessing and modeling risk using internal and external data for evidence-based decision support.
Tasks Summary
- Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities for leveraging data and risk metrics to drive business solutions
- Mine and analyze data to optimize programme development, advocacy, and business strategies
- Assess effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and gathering techniques
- Develop custom data models and algorithms for risk forecasting, exposure analysis, or vulnerability estimation
- Use predictive modeling to optimize entity experiences and business outcomes
- Develop organization A/B testing framework and test model quality
- Coordinate with functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes
- Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy
- Perform other duties as assigned
Experience Requirements
Strong technical expertise in statistical modeling and risk analytics
Qualification Requirements
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in data science, computer science, information management, statistics, public administration, public information, management or a related field is required. A first-level university degree may be accepted with additional years of relevant experience.
