Overview
This role involves studying, exploring, and evaluating data sources to inform decision-making and designing/building predictive data science products. It aims to promote the use of data science solutions for measuring progress and supporting countries in obtaining relevant data.
Tasks Summary
- Studies, explores, and evaluates new and existing data sources for decision making and actionable output
- Designs and builds predictive data science products, such as visualizations, models or AI/ML algorithms
- Liaises with technology stakeholders to access infrastructure, software and services
- Promotes use of data science solutions to measure progress beyond GDP
- Develops methods, products, data analytics tools and innovative solutions
- Engages in complex research and analyses to develop universally applicable data products
- Contributes to short- and long-term planning
- Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy
- Provide expert advice and prepare speeches and technical inputs
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in official statistics, data science, data analytics, applied mathematics, information management or related area is required
- Experience of data science tools such as Jupyter, Matlab, Knime, SPSS, SAS, or Statistical Programming Languages such as R, Python, Javascript or related is required
Qualification Requirements
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in data science, computer science, information management, statistics, public administration, public information, management or a related field
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
