Overview

Provide accurate interpretation between English and Rohingya languages for documents, materials, and audio recordings. Support the Mechanism's outreach products and collaborate with the language services team.

Tasks Summary

• Provide accurate interpretation from English to Rohingya and vice versa of documents and materials.
• Provide audio recordings in Rohingya of interpreted text for outreach products.
• Meet periodically with the Mechanism's language services team to discuss lexicons and other issues.
• Perform other tasks as may be required.

Experience Requirements

• At least four (4) years of relevant professional experience in interpretation is required.
• Experience providing interpretation or translation services in support of criminal investigations or related subjects is desirable.
• Experience working in field missions within the United Nations Common System or other international organizations is desirable.

Qualification Requirements

• A university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent degree) in the relevant or related fields is required.
• A university certificate or a diploma with additional 2 years of relevant professional experience in interpretation may be accepted in lieu of a university degree.

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English and Rohingya is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of another language of Myanmar is desirable.

Contract Duration: 6 months
