Overview

This internship position is located within the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Division on International Trade and Commodities (DITC), Trade, Environment, Climate Change and Sustainable Development Branch. The role supports work on "Trade and Biodiversity" and fundraising efforts.


Tasks Summary
  • Assist in preparing inputs for the design and implementation of special initiatives and programmes advocating for sustainable trade.
  • Support the “Trade 4 Biodiversity” Initiative and its communications (website, social media, communications with partners).
  • Prepare briefing notes and inputs to speeches, PowerPoint presentations, flyers, and other communication material on “Trade 4 Biodiversity”.
  • Help develop a fundraising strategy for the division (research on donors, preparation of concept notes for donors, etc).
  • Help develop communications tools such as social media cards, mass mailings; help edit the web pages of the branch.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Experience Requirements

No working experience is required for this internship. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.


Qualification Requirements
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
  • Should be computer literate in standard software applications.
  • University degree must be in the area of communications, journalism, economics, development, law, political science or other social sciences deemed appropriate.

Languages Required: Fluency oral and written in English is required

Contract Duration: 5 months and 12 days

Work Modality: in-person basis or remotely

Remuneration: The Internship Programme is unpaid. All costs of travel, accommodation, medical insurance and living expenses must be covered by the intern.
