Overview

Expert consultant to provide technical input for GHG projections and mitigation scenario development, contributing to the implementation of the ICAT project in Zambia.


Tasks Summary
  • Co-develop stocktaking reports, including mapping of data collection procedures, institutional arrangements, and MRV system priorities.
  • Co-develop validation workshop reports.
  • Prepare reports introducing selected tools for emissions projections and defining their scope.
  • Prepare reports on baseline GHG emissions projections using selected tools.
  • Co-develop stakeholder validation workshop reports and final improvement plans.
  • Co-develop stakeholder consultation workshop reports for policy and measure identification.
  • Prepare reports on detailed GHG projection/scenario results and GHG target establishment.
  • Co-develop final validation workshop and socialization of the framework.
  • Co-develop final project reports including lessons learned and achievements.

Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of proven working experience in climate/environment protection.
  • Minimum 10 years of proven experience in working with diverse GHG projections methodologies and tools.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in identifying mitigation policies and measures, and modeling GHG mitigation scenarios.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience of working with international development projects and national/local stakeholder engagement related to climate mitigation.
  • Demonstrated experience in GHG emission accounting, preparation of national communications and biennial update report/Biennial Transparency Report is an added advantage.

Qualification Requirements
  • Advance university degree (Master’s or equivalent), preferably in the natural and social sciences.
  • A Bachelor degree with a relevant combination of four years of additional experience related to the position may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of 2006 IPCC Guidelines, 2019 Refinements to the 2016 IPPC guidelines, 2003 good practice guidelines including Modalities, Procedures and Guidelines of the Enhanced Transparency Framework.
  • Excellent knowledge of the climate change policy and processes.
