Maison de l'Europe de Nîmes Association Epi de mains Volunteer opportunity: Get a volunteering in the Cévennes (South of France) in social, cultural and youth projects
The Epi de Mains association is a small organization based in the south of France in the middle mountains called “Les Cévennes”. This organization work is mainly around social and environmental projects. The association would like to host a volunteer for a long term project of 6 months at l’Espinas in the village of Ventalon-en-Cevennes, from March 2026 to August 2026. The volunteer will take part in the activities of the association like supporting the organization of cultural and social events, co-leading an intercultural youth project and help in communication on social media. Epi de Mains is an association created in 2008 and based in the hamlet of Espinas, at 910 meters of altitude, in heart of the Cevennes National Park (Lozère – 48). Since its creation, the founders have instilled in the association the spirit of collective interest and the preservation of the common good, like the environment. Epi de Mains, is a “Social Living Space” and a “Third Place”. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements The volunteer's working time will be a maximum of 30 hours per week. The working time of the Epi de Mains association is flexible and must be adapted to events (activities and events often during weekends). In this case, the volunteer will have more free time during the week. His vacation plans should be arranged with his tutor at least one month in advance. Several accommodation possibilities will be provided to the volunteer, more or less isolated depending the needs of the volunteer. The amount of the monthly allowance €8/day for food + €8/day pocket money = €16/dayor approximately €480 Training during the activity The aim of the project is to support the social, cultural and youth activities of the association during this long term of volunteering. The volunteer will start in March by helping the organization (logistics, communication, welcoming the publics…) of different social and cultural events such as the Carnival, the Free Market Day, games night… The volunteer will support the organization of youth projects and especially the preparation of a youth exchange during summer 2026. In summer 2025, the association organized the first phase of a french-german intercultural youth project Participant profile - Helping with the preparation of the French-German youth exchange on summer 2026 in Germany and being part of the team, - Support the youth rural projects, - Supporting the organization of cultural and social events, - Supporting the communication tools of the organization on social media, - Promoting intercultural events and meeting with international volunteers of other local structures, - Participation to the life of the association Candidates must speak fluent French. Skills in English and/or German will be most appreciated. Their motivation, their ability to bring enthusiasm during their mission, especially with young people and their understanding of pedagogy and animation will be important criteria. Taking initiatives and coming up with new ideas will be highly appreciated. The volunteer should have a sense for autonomy and an ecological awareness. As our association is engaged in ecological and social projects that can be seen as “alternative”, the volunteer should be openminded, curious and adaptable. The organization is located in an isolated mountainous area which means that the volunteer must have a driver's license and driving experience.
