Overview

Support the WHO Kiribati Country Liaison Office and the Ministry of Health & Medical Services in optimizing the newly established District Health Information System (DHIS2), including functional expansion, historical data migration, capacity building, and phased rollout.

Tasks Summary
  • Optimize and maintain the DHIS2 system for stability, reliability, and performance.
  • Review and refine programme configurations, metadata structures, and data quality assurance mechanisms.
  • Design, configure, and deploy additional DHIS2 health programme modules.
  • Migrate historical health datasets into DHIS2.
  • Provide structured training and ongoing mentoring to personnel.
  • Coordinate phased rollout of DHIS2 across health facilities.
  • Develop multi-programme indicators, dashboards, and routine reports.
  • Support system integration initiatives and migration to the permanent DHIS2 server.
Experience Requirements
  • More than 5 years’ experience in DHIS2 design, implementation and training.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within the socio-cultural environment, and operational contexts of Pacific Island countries, especially Kiribati.
  • Proven track record in integrating multiple data sources within DHIS2 and developing automated data pipelines for efficient health information management.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate multiple health programs and data sources within DHIS2.
  • Experienced in developing dashboards, indicators, and automated reports for health information systems.
  • Hands-on experience in training healthcare personnel and data managers on DHIS2 use and maintenance.
Qualification Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Applications, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
  • Proficiency with DHIS2 applications, including configuration, customization, and management.
  • Advanced training or certification in DHIS2 configuration and administration.
  • Certification in data management, database systems or ICT for health is desirable.
  • Knowledge of epidemiology, health data standards and health systems is an advantage.
  • Postgraduate qualifications (Master’s level) in Health Informatics, Information system or Public Health are highly desirable.

Contract Duration: 11 months

Work Modality: On site: Tarawa, Kiribati and Off site: Home-based

Remuneration: Payband level – Band level - B, USD 450/day
