Overview
To ensure effective WHO country presence and implement WHO country cooperation strategies, this role involves evaluating and monitoring security measures for safeguarding staff, visitors, and property, and supporting the UN Security Management System.
Tasks Summary
- Evaluate and monitor existing security measures for safeguarding staff, visitors, WHO property, and premises.
- Monitor adherence to UN Security Management System (UNSMS) procedures and practices.
- Identify gaps and recommend solutions and/or arrange for improvements.
- Review and monitor premises security and evacuation plans for the protection of staff.
- Provide briefings on new security measures and instructions.
- Support the operations and management of the Warden System.
- Participate in organizing and delivering security briefings and training courses on security awareness and preparedness.
- Arrange security briefings for newly appointed staff and visitors.
- Report security incidents affecting WHO staff, offices, and assets.
- Assist the FSO in investigations and in preparing security reports in line with UNSMS guidelines.
- Attend security cell meetings and other UN security-related activities in the area.
- Respond to staff security emergencies.
- Provide administrative assistance in the WHO security office.
- Perform other security-related duties as required.
- Establish and maintain effective relations and liaison with local authorities and UN security cell members on security matters.
- Maintain required databases, including updated guidelines, measures, standards, policies, and staff lists.
- Initiate and finalize security clearance actions for internal and external travel of staff and visitors in a timely manner.
Experience Requirements
At least eight years of relevant experience in security operations and management. Relevant experience in the UN system is desirable.
Qualification Requirements
Completion of secondary education supplemented by training in security management. University degree with focus on security management and/or business administration, international relations, social sciences or related field is an asset.
