Overview

The Associate Programme Officer will be responsible for implementing the anti-human trafficking and migrant smuggling portfolio in Egypt, coordinating with regional projects and teams, and liaising with government counterparts and international organizations.

Tasks Summary
  • Contribute to the implementation of the TIP/SOM portfolio in Egypt.
  • Carry out general and administrative arrangements for portfolio implementation.
  • Coordinate activities related to budget funding for TIP/SOM project preparation.
  • Coordinate and liaise with governmental and non-governmental organizations.
  • Contribute to initiating and coordinating outreach activities.
  • Participate in designing curricula and courses on trafficking in persons and migrant smuggling.
  • Participate in field missions.
  • Guide trainers, experts, consultants, and other resource persons.
  • Guide and supervise the work of local personnel.
  • Support the visibility of UNODC’s anti-trafficking work.
  • Assist with the collection and analysis of data.
  • Perform other work-related duties as required.
Experience Requirements

A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national or international level in coordinating programmes/projects is required. Proven experience in the design and delivery of technical assistance projects and on the development of technical assistance tools related to transnational organized crime is required. Work experience in dealing with combating trafficking in persons and the smuggling of migrants, or other roles concerning the response to trafficking in persons and the smuggling of migrants is desirable. Work experience within the United Nations system, or a similar international organization is desirable. Experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.

Qualification Requirements

An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, political science/economics, social science, international relations, sociology, or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
