Overview
The Youth Engagement Analyst will provide technical support to ensure the effective coordination and implementation of youth, civic engagement, and inclusion components of a project.
Tasks Summary
- Coordinate youth-related activities for effective project implementation.
- Assist in the formulation and implementation of project work plans.
- Coordinate and engage in the day-to-day operations of youth-focused initiatives.
- Assist in preparing annual reports, documenting good practices, and progress reports.
- Coordinate with experts for the establishment and strengthening of youth councils and participatory mechanisms.
- Provide technical inputs to embed youth evidence and participation within governance systems.
- Collect and track youth-related practices and maintain a youth and partners database.
- Observe and document youth participation trends, barriers, and opportunities.
- Facilitate coordination with youth-led organizations, civil society partners, academic institutions, digital rights actors, and government counterparts.
- Support the creation of an ecosystem for civic engagement.
- Provide capacity development support on Civic, Political, and Digital Literacy.
- Coordinate with partners to design and deliver training modules and learning materials.
- Support peer-to-peer learning, mentorship, and leadership programs for youth networks.
- Evaluate training effectiveness.
- Contribute to sector-wide coordination and joint planning.
- Support the integration of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) principles across project activities.
- Develop and apply GESI-sensitive monitoring indicators.
- Document inclusive practices, lessons learned, and innovations.
- Assist youth-led groups in conducting research and generating evidence for policymaking and advocacy.
- Integrate research findings into policy briefs and advocacy messages.
- Support youth networks in organizing evidence-based advocacy campaigns and dialogues.
- Build capacities of youth organizations to collect, analyze, and use disaggregated data.
- Ensure operations coordination and compliance with UNDP policies.
- Prepare terms of reference and agreements for sub-contractors and consultants.
- Monitor progress and address challenges requiring adjustments.
- Facilitate knowledge and capacity building, and knowledge sharing.
- Identify, synthesize, and document best practices and lessons learned.
- Participate in knowledge networks and communities of practice.
- Support the establishment of knowledge platforms and develop knowledge resources.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years (with master’s degree) or 4 years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience in development work including project implementation, coordination, quality assurance, monitoring in governance, civic engagement, youth, human rights, or related fields.
- At least 2 years’ experience directly working at the field level with local partners and CSOs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and working experience with local, provincial governments and experience on governance, civic engagement and democratic participation.
- Experience of working with youth, women and marginalized communities.
Qualification Requirements
- Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Governance, Peace and Conflict management, Political Sciences, Social Studies, International Development, Human Rights, Law or related fields is required.
- OR a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the areas stated above in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience.
