Overview

Internship opportunity supporting work on disability inclusion within the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Section of the Social Development Division.


Tasks Summary
  • Conducting research, including data analysis, on critical areas of concern related to disability inclusion.
  • Assisting in organizing and convening internal and external meetings.
  • Skill sets related to the design and implementation of communication materials and social media campaigns.
  • Contributing to the preparation of various written outputs and data visualization.
  • Providing substantive and administrative support for implementing technical cooperation projects.
  • Providing support to ESCAP’s implementation of the UN Disability Inclusion Strategy.
  • Performing other duties as might be assigned.

Experience Requirements

No working experience is required. Experience in the following would be an asset: academic background in subjects related to disability; good research and writing skills; skill sets related to the design and implementation of communication materials and social media campaigns; organizing or supporting meetings, with prior knowledge or experience providing accessibility support to meetings/events that involve persons with disabilities strongly preferred; knowledge of disability inclusion; familiarity with assistive technologies or accessibility tools.


Qualification Requirements

Applicants must, at the time of application, meet one of the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Interns must also be computer literate in standard software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).

Other Details

Languages Required: Fluency in English is required.

Languages Preferred: Knowledge of a national language from the Asia-Pacific region is considered an asset.

Contract Duration: 3-6 months

Work Modality: onsite or remotely

Remuneration: The internship is unpaid. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
