Overview
The Health Specialist, NOC supports the development, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the health programme in Guinea, focusing on areas such as gender, maternal, neonatal, and child survival/development.
Tasks Summary
- Support and contribute to the preparation, design, and updating of situation analysis for health sectors.
- Formulate, design, and prepare health programme proposals aligned with UNICEF's Strategic Plan.
- Establish programme goals, objectives, strategies, and implementation plans based on results-based planning.
- Plan and collaborate with partners to establish monitoring benchmarks and performance indicators.
- Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, programme reviews, and annual sectoral reviews.
- Prepare and assess monitoring and evaluation reports to identify gaps and lessons learned.
- Actively monitor programmes/projects through field visits and surveys.
- Monitor and verify the appropriate use of sectoral programme resources.
- Prepare regular programme/project reports for management, donors, and partners.
- Provide technical guidance and operational support to government counterparts and partners.
- Participate in discussions with national partners to promote health and development issues.
- Draft policy papers, briefs, and strategic programme materials.
- Participate in emergency preparedness initiatives.
- Build and sustain effective working partnerships with health sector government counterparts and stakeholders.
- Prepare communication and information materials for programme advocacy.
- Represent UNICEF in inter-agency discussions on health-related issues.
- Apply and introduce innovative approaches and good practices to build partner capacity.
- Conduct research to provide evidence for best practices in health system strengthening.
- Assess, institutionalize, and share best practices and knowledge learned.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures for health programmes.
- Organize and implement capacity building initiatives for stakeholders.
Experience Requirements
- A minimum of five years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas is required: public health/nutrition planning and management, maternal and neonatal health care, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness.
- Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
- Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset.
Qualification Requirements
An advanced university degree in one of the following fields is required: public health/nutrition, pediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policy and/or management, environmental health sciences, biostatistics, socio-medical, health education, epidemiology, or another relevant technical field.
