Overview

Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa- Delegação de Cucujães Vila de Cucujães, Oliveira de Azeméis, Portugal Volunteer opportunity: Volunteer at Portuguese Red Cross (Long Term)

Tasks Summary

The Portuguese Red Cross – Local Branch of Cucujães is inviting motivated young people (18–30 years old) to join a long-term international volunteering project in Northern Portugal. This is a hands-on, community-focused experience where every day brings something new - from practical tasks to team projects that directly and indirectly improve people’s lives. Volunteers live and work in a small rural village, taking part in tasks at a Food Bank, Elderly Nursing Home, Rehab Center, Pedagogical Farm at a Primary School, Environmental activities and other occasional initiatives. This experience is ideal for someone who likes to stay active and work with their hands. Accommodation, food and transport arrangements Volunteers share a fully equipped apartment (Wi-Fi, bedding, towels, kitchen utensils, etc.) within walking distance of the work sites. You’ll receive €330/month for food and personal expenses, plus full health insurance and transportation when needed. Be prepared to adapt to local conditions - there’s no air conditioning or heating, so pack for the seasons and enjoy the simple, outdoorlifestyle. Training during the activity You’ll receive on-site guidance and training from the Portuguese Red Cross team, plus national ESC (European Solidarity Corps) training sessions. Volunteers can also access an online Portuguese course and explore new skills based on their own interests and initiative. Participant profile We’re looking for volunteers who are: Reliable, adaptable, and ready to work in a team. Up for hands-on, varied tasks rather than desk-based work. Open-minded and eager to engage with different people and cultures. Proactive - ready to bring their own ideas and projects to life. No previous experience is required - just energy, curiosity, and a willingness to learn. If you’re ready to challenge yourself, make a tangible and intangilble impact, and maybe discover your professional vocation/ interests, this is the project for you. We also welcome applications from UK (United Kingdom).
